Sports Nutrition

At SkimWellness, we believe nutrition is an essential part of training. Sports nutrition goes beyond calories, macros, or what you eat before a workout. It considers how fueling, hydration, recovery, training demands, sleep, stress, and overall health work together to support both performance and well-being.

Our dietitians take an evidence-based, athlete-centered approach to care. Rather than simply asking, “What should you eat?”, we look at the demands of your sport, training schedule, lifestyle, goals, and relationship with food to develop fueling strategies that are individualized, practical, and sustainable.

Whether you’re training for your first race, competing at an elite level, struggling with low energy or poor recovery, navigating GI symptoms during exercise, dealing with RED-S or underfueling, or simply looking to feel stronger and more energized in your workouts, our goal is to help you understand what your body needs to train, recover, and perform.

Our dietitians are athletes themselves and what makes our practice so well versed is the variety of athlete types we are and that we serve. From MMA fighters to collegiate swimmers to marathon runners, we have clinical standardized guidelines for each athlete.

Our Dietitians' Experiences with Sports Nutrition

Sports nutrition is especially meaningful to me because I’m an athlete myself. As a marathon runner, I’ve experienced firsthand how easy it can be to underestimate just how much fuel the body needs to train, recover, and perform at its best. My own journey with running and nutrition taught me that training harder isn’t always the answer—and that adequate fueling can make a meaningful difference in energy, recovery, performance, and overall health. Working with athletes has only strengthened this passion. I love helping clients challenge the idea that they need to eat less, weigh less, or constantly push harder to become a better athlete and instead learn how to work with their bodies to support the activities and sports they love.
